The creative process can be elusive, and one never knows when or where the inspirations might appear. I keep a notepad and pen near my bed to jot down any ideas that might come to me in the middle of the night, and I often walk around New York City singing melodies that pop into my head into my voice memo app on my phone๐
I have been working on wire sculptures of cats, and doing drawings that have been inspired by the wire sculptures.
(Above: Wired Cats VII, Sarah Hauser, wire sculpture, 7: x 7โ x 7โ)
I have also been making one-of-a-kind t-shirts with these drawings on them (and there are some tshirts with printed designs available on my etsy as well). So these loosely drawn kitties are in my head.
In this post I will share with you some drawings which were inspired by a dream I had. It was a dream in which the visuals were so strong, so filled with color and movement. They remained vivid in my mind as I woke up.
Below you will see 5 paintings that resulted as I hastily chased these images, translating them to paint and paper or wood panel. The series is called Kat-alonia and the Sandman. I canโt wait to do more!

Once again Sarah your art bursts with originality and charm!! Love the wired pieces and the Tshirts are my favorite wardrobe items!!! Also the random spots of red, yellow and blue have a Miro feel! Amazing!
I love the wire sculptures, they remind me of those sculptures that only look like the thing seen from one angle, seen from another, you see all the stuff it's made up from but couldn't imagine it would all work together. I don't think I'm describing it well, hopefully you know what I mean, but it all becomes about POV.
